Boston
Made by:
Tomas Maier
Creative director Tomas Maier is often credited with taking the
luxury leather company Bottega Veneta back to the basics. He refined the
brand’s aesthetic, removed flashy labels, and brought an emphasis back
to quality and craftsmanship.
Maier has shown the same practiced precision in his store design,
most recently with a new shop in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. The
2,500-square-foot boutique is located in the Heritage on the Garden, a
historic building that spans one city block and houses other luxury
brands like Christofle and Hermès. Here Maier stayed true to Bottega’s
signature details: Door handles are covered in leather, walls are
sheathed in Ultrasuede, and furniture is upholstered in luxe mohair. In a
sleek, minimalist style, walnut cabinets display small leather goods,
while industrial-style steel shelving exhibits the brand’s hallmark
intrecciato leather bags.
