Van Cleef & Arpels New York flagship boutique unveiled its 2012
Holiday windows on November 13th. Inspired by the new High Jewelry
collection, Palais de la Chance, fantastical vignettes displayed the
one-of-a-kind jewels.
Each scene was depicted from literal and abstract symbols of luck. The
handcrafted sets in each window mechanically animate, showcasing
whimsically and unexpectedly the most iconic jewels from the collection.
Artist Douglas Little – known for infusing visions of antique
luxury with a fresh, modern spirit and his work with 18th and 19th
century curiosities - created the series of theatrical sets. “The idea
was to create windows that would capture the imagination and create a
sense of magic and wonder,” explained Mr. Little. “ I wanted the windows
to manifest a ‘moment’ for viewers, something that was very special and
unique, much like finding a four-leaf clover.”
